How bag quantity is estimated

The calculator converts slab thickness from inches to feet, finds the cubic-foot volume, adds your waste allowance, then divides by the estimated yield of each bag size. Bag quantities are rounded up because partial bags are not normally purchased.

Bag yield can vary with product formulation and mixing water. Excavated holes and small forms also tend to be less regular than their nominal dimensions.

For steps, footings or multiple small pours, calculate each shape separately in cubic feet. Add the volumes, apply contingency, then divide by the bag yield shown on the product.
