What changes the field quantity
Compaction, base settlement, lift thickness and mix density can all change the delivered tonnage. A driveway measured before excavation may also end up with a different finished footprint.
Handling a non-rectangular project
Split curves and widened aprons into rectangles or short sections. Estimate each section at the intended compacted depth, then combine the tonnage before adding contingency.
